Coaches Reflect on Sundowns-Galaxy Clash

The coaches of TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns had plenty to say about their respective teams’ performances following their Betway Premiership clash on Tuesday, 11 February.
Playing at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga, Galaxy secured a surprise 1-0 victory after midfielder Kamogelo Sebelebele scored the sole goal of the game in the 44th minute.
“The feeling is beautiful, winning against Sundowns … I’m so proud; all credit to the players,” said Galaxy manager, Adnan Beganovic, in a post-match interview.
Praising his men’s tactical play and their unbeaten run of 12 matches across all competitions, Beganovic added, “We need to enjoy [this feeling] because what we did in the last three months is unbelievable.”
In contrast, Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso seemed bitter as he noted several challenges faced during the match, including fatigue and conceding a goal just before half-time.
“We controlled the match, but we were penalised at the end of the first half,” Cardoso explained in a post-match interview. “It was an emotional and difficult moment because we went to half-time expecting to win, but we got a result of 1-0.
“During the second half, it was clear that … we were [playing] with low batteries … despite the intention to try to do things. It was not easy to make good decisions. [The players had] very high levels of fatigue, for sure.”
